Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is searching for a Desktop Support Engineer with experience in the oil and gas industry.

Work schedule of 40 hrs. M-F either 7-4 or 8-5 working in a customer's office located in Lafayette, LA with occasional, planned offshore visits.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.


  • Assist with computer hardware and software issues.
  • Work on-site, including going offshore and remote connection and assist with hardware installations, software upgrades, systems integrations, and basic IT related issues.
  • Responding to client support requests who are experiencing basic hardware and software issues in a fast and effective way.
  • Contacting clients to find out the nature of the problem.
  • Working onsite or connecting via remote link.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Installing and maintaining hardware and computer peripherals.
  • Installing and upgrading operating systems and computer software.
  • Troubleshooting networking and connection issues.
  • Advising on software or hardware upgrades.
  • Providing basic training on computer operation and management.
  • Completing job reports and ordering supplies.
  • Other duties as required and assigned/approved by IT Manager.

Skills / Qualifications


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-3 years’ experience
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware systems, chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications, and remote connection systems.
  • Ability to solve complex hardware and software issues.
  • Ability to travel and work after hours when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.



  • Bachelor’s degree (An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements)
  • 3+ years’ experience
